Capturing what the
heart feels, in clay.
There is a quiet magic that happens in the studio when the world falls away, and it's just you and a piece of clay. It's not about the technical perfection—it's about the soul you pour into it.
Polymer clay has this incredible ability to capture the finest details—the tiny wrinkles on a foot, the soft curve of a lip. But more importantly, it captures emotions. These aren't just dolls; they are keepsakes of love, pieces of art that you can hold in your hand and cherish forever.
"I believe everyone has a spark of this magic inside them. My goal with this first step is to give you the keys to unlock it, using simple techniques that yield professional, soul-filled results."

— Emily R.Questions About Learning Miniature Baby Sculpting
Beginning something so small can feel like a big step. Here are the questions I am most often asked by new miniature doll makers.
Can a complete beginner learn to sculpt a miniature baby?
Yes. You do not need to be a professional sculptor to begin. Miniature baby sculpting does require patience, and your first doll probably will not look like the work of someone who has already made hundreds or thousands of them—and it should not. Everyone starts with a first doll. Mine certainly did not look like the dolls I make today. I actually boiled my first polymer clay baby because I did not even own an oven yet! What matters is learning to really see proportions, shapes, and expression, and then practicing.
Is this miniature baby sculpting tutorial for beginners?
Yes. I created this beginner-friendly tutorial so that someone new to sculpting OOAK miniature babies can follow the process without already knowing all the terminology. I want it to feel as though I am sitting beside you, showing you how I make a tiny baby—not like reading a complicated sculpture textbook.
What will I learn in the polymer clay baby tutorial?
The tutorial focuses on creating a realistic 1:12 scale miniature baby, including the things I consider most important in my own work: baby proportions, expression, a natural pose, and the tiny details that make a sculpture feel alive. It is not about copying one of my dolls exactly. The goal is to help you understand what to look for so that, eventually, your babies begin developing characters of their own.
Will the tutorial teach all of your personal sculpting techniques?
I share the process you need to create the baby and understand how I approach miniature sculpting. But after more than a decade of sculpting, there are also many tiny decisions I make almost automatically. That part comes with observation and practice. A tutorial can show you the road. Your own hands still have to walk it.
What language is the tutorial in?
The tutorial is in English and written as simply and clearly as possible, including for makers whose first language is not English. More than 80 step-by-step photographs also help make the process easy to follow.
How do I receive the tutorial?
This is a digital PDF tutorial, so there is no physical item to wait for in the mail. After your purchase, the tutorial and bonus crochet pattern are sent to your email as downloadable files. You can save them and work through the lessons at your own pace.
If there is something I have not answered here, you are always welcome to contact me. I have been living in this tiny world for a very long time, so chances are I have been asked it before. :)
